A very good article about Cybersecurity Tips in today’s USA Today Section of the Democrat and Chronicle. The one my clients call me about the most is that they get a pop up warning on their computer screen – sometimes made to look as if it is coming from Microsoft – stating that their computer is at risk or infected and gives a phone number to call for help. Once you make the call the company then asks for your credit card number to charge you for their help. Then they ask you to give permission for them to dial in to your computer and make changes. That’s when instead of fixing a problem – that you don’t have!! – they drop in a virus.
Never, ever, call these numbers. It is a scam. If you can’t get rid of the warning message (which, in a sense, is a virus itself) call me for help. 585-748-1850.
